Composite Strap, often known as synthetic steel, is the most recent technological advancement in strapping. It is constructed of polyester thread with a polymer coating for increased strength. It can be applied in an infinite number of ways and will hold its tension; if it does not, it may be re-tensioned.
Composite material is lightweight, flexible, and has no sharp edges, so it will not harm your items. It is resistant to weather and UV rays and does not decay or corrode. Its elastic characteristics will return it to its former shape if it extends during an impact if it has a high shock absorption capacity. It is also resistant to abrasion, and as the weakest point of any strapping is the junction, the composite has a high joint efficiency. For reliable and sturdy connections, composite buckles are advised.
To get the best tension out of your composite strapping, you will need a competent hand tensioning tool or a strapping machine for a busy manufacturing line.
Polyester fibres are woven together in a multidirectional weave to form woven strapping. This banding has the same breaking strain as steel strapping but weighs just 85 percent as much. It is resistant to extremes of temperature, humidity, and chemical compounds. It does not rust or decay and is easy to handle, with no sharp edges that might cause injury or product damage.
Woven strapping is more durable than alternatives due to its strong cross-direction strength. More filaments are woven together to increase their strength, and a stiffening chemical is applied to the strap to make it sufficiently hard for all industrial applications.
In addition to its great shock absorption and impact resistance, it utilises the same heavy-duty hand tools and tensioners as composite strapping.
Polyester is used to produce both composite and woven strapping. The distinction between composite and woven strapping is that woven strapping is composed of multidirectional threads, whereas composite strap is composed of vertical fibres covered with transparent polypropylene. This coating makes it far more rigid than a woven strap. This rigidity makes it simpler to feed material beneath pallets.
Both forms of strapping require distinct buckle finishes, with woven straps requiring phosphate-coated buckles to increase friction. With phosphate-coated buckles, composite strapping is more prone to tear, hence galvanised buckles are required for closing the strap.
PET strapping is one of the best materials for fastening pallets or unit loads due to its unique properties. It is used as an alternative to steel strapping and is the most durable of the plastic strapping materials. It provides superior stress absorption due to its strong elongation and recovery qualities, which keep it taut. Although it has the same strength as steel, it is not resistant to sharp edges that might damage it during shipment.
